Athens Volunteer Firefighters: Since 1805
The Athens Volunteer Fire Department is located in Greene County, New York. We are an all volunteer fire department with 52 active firefighters, 26 of them are interior firefighters that operate from a single fire station. Protecting 2,600 citizens within a 10 square mile area, we respond to an average of 100 emergency incidents each year. We provide structural fire protection, wild land fire protection, hazmat, and rescue services to our fire district.
Critical infrastructure in our first due district includes: Power Lines, Gas Lines, The Hudson River, State Highway, Cooling Line for Power Generating Plant, Rail Spur, Two Asphalt Facilities and construction of an underground power transmission line.
